It may be next week before the Mobile Mayor's Office comes up with final figures on a possible garbage fee to bail out the city's budget problems.
Mobile City Council Member William Carroll has proposed a $15 dollar fee per month for six months, and then $8.00 per month for a year after that.
Mobile Mayor Sam Jones is looking at the idea, and some other council members are looking at other ideas.
Speaking about the garbage fee, Barbara Drummond with the Mayor's Office said, "Is it going to be enough money or generate enough money to be able to fill that $14.4 Million hole?"
That's one of the questions members of the Mayor's staff are looking at to decide whether a garbage fee is a workable idea.
Drummond also said, "Also, how much will MAWSS (Mobile Area Water and Sewer System) charge us to collect that water bill, logistically. Who will be exempt?"
City Council Member William Carroll said, "You can only charge for the value of the service. So, whatever that number is, where we are right now is what we're trying to figure out. And that number could be considerably more than $15 per household."

The Mobile fire captain who suggested that Mayor Sam Jones might be suffering from "chemobrain" is not apologizing.
After his statement on Tuesday, Captain Bryan Lee was banned from speaking at city council meetings for a year.
Council President Reggie Copeland says it's against the rules to make a personal attack. "It's very disparaging and very unprofessional to do that to our mayor who's going through a very traumatic time. You need to be praying for him not criticizing him."
Lee was surprised when he got the call from the city. "I live in America. We all enjoy a right to free speech and I'm a little bit taken back by the action."
Lee admits that his message got lost but says the mayor chose to go public with his cancer battle. "I commend him. He engaged the public through the media with what's he's going through."
Lee says it's possible that the mayor could be suffering from the medical condition known as chemo brain. "The question I raised was a lot of chemotherapy patients suffer from post-chemotherapy treatment. It can be characterized as cloudy judgement, foggy."

People are talking about that proposal to start charging for garbage collection.
Everyone who receives city garbage collection services would have to pay the fee.
Two years ago, people in two areas of Mobile County voted to be annexed into the City of Mobile, expecting to receive free garbage collection instead of having to pay private services to pick it up.
Now, the garbage collection may not be free anymore.
News Five talked to a number of people in one of those areas along Schillinger Road Tuesday evening about the garbage fee proposal.
Here are some of the comments.
One man asked: "When they did the thing to get this place incorporated, they said it was going to be free for so many years, right? Now they're reneging on that? Its bull. Its typical of a politician, though."
Another said, "I think its awful. I think if you did support it, that was one reason why you wanted to, and now they're going back on it."
Still another said, "I don't think it's a good idea at all. If its free, then you keep it free."
Other comments ranged from "It stinks," to "I don't think it's a good idea."
